Hydroxyapatite for Teeth: What the Evidence Says
Hydroxyapatite is chemically related to the mineral phase of teeth and has been studied in oral-care products, particularly toothpastes.
What research supports
Reviews describe hydroxyapatite oral-care formulations in research on remineralization, sensitivity, biofilm management and caries prevention. Clinical evidence exists, but results and study designs vary, and more high-quality trials remain useful.
Why product form matters
Evidence for hydroxyapatite toothpaste or mouthwash is evidence about topical oral-care formulations. It does not establish that swallowing a supplement containing a hydroxyapatite-based calcium source produces the same local effect on enamel.
DentalPrime connection
DentalPrime lists calcium as a microcrystalline hydroxyapatite complex. That makes hydroxyapatite scientifically relevant to understanding the ingredient, but it does not turn toothpaste studies into DentalPrime trials.
Next: DentalPrime ingredients or tooth remineralization.
